Corps to Host Public Workshop on the Access Roadway Design

January 12, 2006

On January 26, 2006, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District (Corps) will be hosting a Public Information Workshop at the Gethsemani Community Center from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Gethsemani Community Center is located at 2449 Beacon Street within the Union Heights neighborhood (directions are below).

The purpose of this workshop is to provide information to the public – and receive comments back – related to Access Roadway Alternative 1C, which is the roadway alternative recommended by the Transportation Agency Technical Working Group (ATWG) to provide direct access between the proposed marine container terminal and I-26.

During the Information Workshop, several members of the Transportation ATWG will be available to answer questions related to Access Roadway Alternative 1C and the process that led to its identification. At any point during the 4-hour workshop, the public may ask questions, study design drawings and maps, and provide comments.

Directions to the Gethsemani Community Center:

From I-26:

Take the Spruill Avenue exit (Exit #218) and turn left onto Spruill Avenue. Travel approximately 0.3 miles and turn left onto Boxwood Avenue. Take the second right onto Beacon Street. The Gethsemane Community Center will be immediately on the left.
