Draft EIS To Be Published, Made Available to the Public

On November 17, 2005, approximately 30 days after the draft EIS is published, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District (Corps) will host a Public Hearing at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center (directions below) from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The purpose of the Public Hearing is to provide the public with an opportunity to submit verbal or written comments on the draft EIS. The Corps will be addressing all the comments in the final EIS.


After the Public Hearing, the public will have an additional 32 days to comment on the draft EIS (the total comment period is 60 days and will end on December 19, 2005). Other methods by which the public may comment include:

Directions to the North Charleston Performing Arts Center:


From I-26 Eastbound:


Follow Interstate 26 East to Exit 212B (I-526 West, Savannah/Airport). Take the first exit off of I-526 (for International Blvd, Montague Avenue, and Charleston Int’l Airport.) At the bottom of the ramp, go straight through the traffic light, following the signs for Montague Avenue. At the next light, turn left onto Montague Avenue, the North Charleston Performing Arts Center is located on your left. Park in Parking Lot #.


From I-26 Westbound:


Follow I-26 West to Exit 213 (Montague Avenue). Turn left onto Montague Avenue and follow Montague Avenue past International Blvd. The North Charleston Performing Arts Center is located on the right. Park in Parking Lot #.


From North (Mount Pleasant):


Take Hwy 17 South to I-526 West (to North Charleston). Follow I-526 past the I-526/I-26 interchange. Take the first exit past the interchange for International Blvd., Montague Ave., and Charleston International Airport. At the bottom of the ramp, go straight through the traffic light, following the signs for Montague Avenue. At the next light, turn left onto Montague Avenue. The North Charleston Performing Arts Center is located on the left. Park in Parking Lot #.
