Approximately 50 people attended the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (Corps) Public
Information Workshop held at the Citadel Alumni Center on August 25, 2004.
The purpose of this workshop was to share information related to the progress of the EIS
with the public. Throughout the meeting, attendees were able to have their questions
answered by experts that worked in specific areas of study related to the “scope” of the
draft EIS. These areas of study included, Air Quality, Water Quality, Transportation, Site
Contamination, Natural Resources, and Human Environment. There was also Corps staff
available to discuss the screening process that led to the identification of the Project
Alternatives that will be receiving a detailed evaluation in the draft EIS. Information
Handouts distributed at the workshop are available for downloading on the project website (click here).
During the workshop, the Corps requested public feedback on specific issues of concern
and the EIS process. Input from the public will be received by the Corps throughout the
development of the EIS. Methods by which the public can submit their feedback include
the website’s feedback form, the hotline (843-971-7970), and letters written to the Project
Manager, Nathaniel I. Ball, at:
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District
69A Hagood Avenue
Charleston, S.C. 29403.
Additional public information workshops and meetings will be held throughout the EIS
process on an “as needed” basis. To be alerted of an upcoming workshop and/or
