On February 13, 2003, the South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCSPA) was
advised that, based on the significant social, economic, and environmental
effects associated with the proposed construction of the marine container
terminal at the Charleston Naval Complex (CNC), an Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) would be prepared by the United States Army Corps of Engineers
(Corps), Charleston District.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Corps has
sent a Notice of Intent to be published in the Federal Register. This Notice of
Intent informs the public of the location and time of the Public Scoping
Meeting. In order to ensure that all concerned individuals are notified, a
local public notice is being issued to announce the Public Scoping Meeting and
Information Workshop on March 16, 2004.
